Frank Bocanegra
Frank Bocanegra arrived from Cuba with his parents and sister when he was seven. His family settled in New York city. They moved to Miami four years later. He is an avid sports fan and enjoys time with his family. He is married and has five children and six grandchildren.
Mr. Bocanegra earned a Bachelor’s Degree from St Thomas University and a Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern University. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and has attained certificates from the University of Virginia, Catholic University in Portugal, United States Secret Service and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. He was also commissioned a Colonel by the Governor of Kentucky for his efforts in bringing the Mobile Field Force concept (a tactical response to civil disturbance), to law enforcement agencies in northern Kentucky. Mr. Bocanegra has trained thousands of law enforcement officials throughout the Western Hemisphere.
Mr. Bocanegra retired as a Police Major from the Miami Dade Police Department. There he served with distinction in the many entities of the department to include SRT (SWAT), General Investigations, Auto Theft and Community Affairs to name a few. He went on to become City Manager for the Town of Miami Lakes. During his tenure as Manager, Mr. Bocanegra and his staff navigated the Town through the economic difficulties of the times and through different initiatives, were able to lower taxes while enhancing the level of service and ensuring that the Town was fiscally sound. Mr. Bocanegra is also an adjunct professor at Miami Dade College where he teaches Business Law and at St. Thomas University. His career in public service has spanned thirty eight years.
Mr. Bocanegra continues his commitment to his community. He is a licensed attorney in Florida and Washington DC. He has experience in criminal and civil litigation and currently practices law as a criminal defense attorney.
